McCain vs. Hillary
Terry McAuliff, Hillary’s campaign manager, stated this morning on Fox that polls are showing Hillary winning the general election. Perhaps in the alternate universe inhabited by the Clintonistas. Or, perhaps against some candidates, but that wasn’t what McAuliff said. He made a flat statement.
From Real Clear Politics, the current polling for John McCain against Hillary:
| Poll | Date | Sample | McCain (R) | Clinton (D) | Und | Spread |
| RCP Average | 12/06 – 12/20 | - | 48.8 | 43.8 | 9.7 | McCain +5.0 |
| Rasmussen | 12/19 – 12/20 | 800 LV | 49 | 43 | 8 | McCain (R) +6.0 |
| FOX News | 12/18 – 12/19 | 900 RV | 47 | 42 | 12 | McCain (R) +5.0 |
| Zogby | 12/12 – 12/14 | 1000 LV | 49 | 42 | 9 | McCain (R) +7.0 |
| CNN | 12/06 – 12/09 | RV | 50 | 48 | – | McCain (R) +2.0 |
Now, perhaps these polls have been overcome by data more recent than 20 December 2007. Perhaps. And, if a large majority of undecideds went for Hillary, that would change the results. Results that in every poll, favor John McCain.
Perhaps McAuliff is as fast and loose with numbers as the Clintons are with the truth. Or he’s ignorant of this polling data (not likely, friends).
