They’re starting to eat their young
Please check out this video with Bubba Clinton chiding Obama for his shallowness and perfidy. That’s right, Obama’s, not Clinton’s. Or, as Bubba exclaims in this video, “Give me a break!” Or, this expanded one from ABC, where Bill talks of the Obama “fairy tale.”
According to Rod Dreher at Crunchy Con, Obama has been given the grace of teflon,as manifested in his race:
Donna Brazile on CNN this afternoon, her reaction was visceral. “As an African-American, I find his tone and his words very depressing.”
As a pallid-American, I find Donna Brazile’s words very depressing. Obama is hardly beyond criticism; he’s not Oprah Winfrey, for God’s sake…
Rod Dreher pretty much sums up the problem for those of us who would not consider voting for Clinton, much less Obama:
Still, despite one’s Schadenfreude over Hillary’s political predicament, it’s not encouraging to see that we now may be in a situation in which normal, legitimate hardball politics used against Barack Obama is considered illegitimate solely because of the color of his skin. If Obama is the nominee of the party, Republicans who take pleasure in the Clintons’ inability to land a solid blow on him because of racial Teflon will regret it.
So, fellow members of the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy, let’s enjoy while we may the sight of the Donks eating their young. We’re next on the menu.
A warning from Newt
Newt Gingrich’s column at Human Events today is well worth the time. Newt is certainly partisan, but he’s also not got a horse in this year’s presidential race. He’s also a brilliant politico, and here’s a couple of things worth repeating:
Sen. Obama is rapidly becoming such a phenomenon of hope and unity that his nomination seems increasingly likely. If the Clinton machine cannot derail his momentum before it becomes overwhelming, their dreams of going back to the White House are over.
A Warning for Republican Candidates and Consultants
The results of Iowa are a warning to Republican candidates and consultants that the model they have been using is obsolete.
In 2006, the Republican model of massive focus on fundraising and negative attacks on opponents lost six out of six close incumbent Senate races.
In Iowa, the best-financed Republican candidate who used the most consultants lost to an underfinanced but idealistic populist.
So here are the bullet points for going forward:
- Message beats money.
- Enthusiasm beats paid staff.
- Hope beats negativity.
- People are smarter than the consultants.
All of which may help to explain why Chuck Norris has helped Mike Huckabee, and Oprah Winfrey has helped Obama.
All Glory to the HypnoObama!
Although I find his politics a little too Peter-Pan-ish and vacuous, it must not be denied that Barack Hussein Obama is a fresh face. Who, I’m still convinced, had he been white, would likely still be a state legislator in Illinois. But perhaps that’s just the cynic in me, who sees reverse racism (read: guilty white liberals) just about everywhere.
But Obama is black, or at least half so. His father was a black Kenyan, who abandoned Obama and his mother when Obama was two. Nice going, dad. But, after all, in the best “one drop of Negro blood” tradition, Obama is considered a “black” man first and foremost. Which is fine; we all need all the advantages we can find.
Note I write “advantages.” It is absolutely an advantage to be intelligent, charismatic, and black. It also helps if you’re not a hustler or pimp, which explains why Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, both intelligent and charismatic and black, were never able to generate wind in their sails for their presidential aspirations.
Obama appears to be honest, however, and, if he wins today’s New Hampshire primary (likely), may now be on a roll to shattering the Ice Queen’s palace. Perhaps it is the very paucity of choices amongst the Donks that have contributed to his amazing rise. The Ice Queen and the guy with the expensive hair who screeches like a little bitchy girl about “two Americas” being the competition. Hmm; any vagrant off the street could do well there.
Aside from my-sure-to-be-accused-of-being-racist theory that Obama is ahead because of, not in spite of, his race, there’s only one logical explanation: Obama is the HypnoObama. It’s got to be true; no one with such a lighter-than-air resume and platform (Hope! Change! Did I mention Change?) could otherwise be so exalted.
All Glory to the HypnoObama!
