Obama’s prospects stone dead?
March 17, 2008 by John Rich
John Derbyshire writes thusly about the likely impact of Jeremiah Wright on Barack Obama’s campaign:
It has also, of course, been Barack Obama’s church for most of his adult life. That last clause is highly relevant. Obama was not born and raised in this church: He chose it prior to entering Harvard Law School in 1988. And yes, Jeremiah Wright was already in the pulpit.
These plain facts, with the nature of that church, will kill Barack Obama’s prospects of becoming our 44th President stone dead. They have probably already done so.
I am hoping Derb is correct. It’s just that people in large groups can show astounding ignorance. To quote a great man, Tommy Lee Jones in Men In Black: A person is smart; people are dumb panicky dangerous animals and you know it.
The missus, who knows much more of the human condition than I do, opines that most young people who are now so enthused over Obama simply will not care. Reason? His supporters, for the most part, are unchurched. They just don’t care about what any pastor says, or does. Obama’s sickening anti-American, racist church means nothing to these people.
It should. But it does not. Again, with the hope: it is my fondest hope that the men and women I call “lunch-bucket” Democrats will wake up and get Hillary on the ticket in the top spot. Or, failing that, and Obama is the Donk nominee, vote for McCain.
Repeating something I thought I’d never say: Hillary Rodham Clinton looks presidential next to Barack Obama, now that the latter is showing the real man under the shiny façade.
I am for Hillary Clinton! She is the only real Democrat in the race. I don’t think I could ever vote for McCain, not after the endorsement he accepted from an unapologetic Catholic-basher. Hillary is the only reasonable nominee, and the only one who will get my vote.
