City on a hill
We are a nation of individuals. Our liberty is rooted in the individual; that liberty derives not from government or other men, but from God. As a nation of individuals, tribe, ethnicity, race, and creed should all become secondary to our first loyalty: America.
Thus has it been since the Puritans landed in Massachusetts in 1620. They looked to found a New Jerusalem, a shining city on a hill, a beacon unto all nations.
And they succeeded beyond their wildest imaginings. Fast forward to this election of 2008, and we have one major party, the Democrats, trying to undo all that. How? By casting each of us members of some tribe. In the Democrat lexicon, we are first and foremost “African American,” “Hispanic,” “gay,” “female,” and so forth.
As such, we are, accordingly, not Americans per se. But, at least for those particular groups, victims. And, as victims, to be considered as not responsible for our actions or even our very thoughts.
The current standard-bearer of the tribal party? Barack Hussein Obama. Almost perfect in name and outlook. Although he’s far from a victim himself, and has done quite well using his God-given talents for self-promotion.
If you would like a tribal leader, you could not have a better one than Obama. If you are an American, and believe you are an individual as opposed to a member of a group of victims, you could not have a worse one than Obama.
