False flag

Barack Hussein Obama is liberal. A Hyde-Park liberal, which means he’d be right at home in the salons of Cambridge Massachusetts or the upper West Side of Manhattan. Think Ann Arbor, not Saginaw. Think Scarsdale, not Newburgh in New York. Think San Francisco, not Bakersfield. You get the gist.

Obama has shown his true colors: deep, deep blue. And his attempts to demonstrate that he’s just a regular guy, really, really, really concerned with your well-being, it’s as phony as a three-dollar bill. Which, I maintain, is the principal reason that Obama is tanking in the polls (RCP average today has McCain up by almost 3 points).

Yes, Sarah Palin has energized the party; brought out the Republican base who have been leery of John McCain. But it can’t just be that. Even before the ‘Cuda’s rollout, Obama had been steadily slipping. It all began to head south for him in Germany, when he posed as the American president. But apparently none of his 300 or so foreign policy weenies thought to tell him about that pesky Prussian monument

It’s way too early to break out the whiskey for celebrating, but the signs and omens are favorable. Michael Knox Beran has a concise summary of why Obama is so blue. Principal reason is as Sarah Palin said at the convention: you don’t say one thing in Scranton, and another in San Francisco.

Those of us with working class roots, who cling to all sorts of things, tend to not like that. We also tend to be able to spot phonies.
