My name is John (Jack) Rich. I was born, grew up, and went to school in the Bronx, New York. Let’s just say we weren’t high society…
Became an engineer designing things that go boom (or things that take things that go boom to their destinations…), principally for our military. Also took an interesting career turn and for some years was in charge of counter-terrorism for my agency…so I learned something about guns. And when to use them.
I am a believer, in God, although not really big on organized religion — used to be Roman Catholic (still am, if you ask them…); now attend a Baptist church.
My politics are a mix of conservative and libertarian. With one exception, I favor small government, maximum personal freedom, coupled with personal responsibility and accountability for one’s actions.
I also know that there are, and have always been, things that are true, and things that are not. The Bible is the best place to start seeking that which is true. But always apply reason and free will to what you read.
Two problems: Being smart enough to know what is true, and what is not. And then having the guts to act accordingly. I make no claims…
The exception to small government? I favor a robust national defense, against enemies foreign, and domestic. Or, as Teddy Roosevelt should have said, “speak softly and carry a whole bunch of armored divisions and carrier battle groups.”
Rich,
I assume you are the JR of lilpoh.
I read Lilpoh regularly and it seems it is also yours.
If so,
what happened to that blog?
May I ask why Google is censoring you?
What offended them?
Did somebody complain?
Kactuz
“lilpoh,” short for “life, liberty, & the pursuit of happiness” was the name of my political/cultural blog before I switched names to Wrong Side of the Tracks.
I’m unaware of being censored by Google, but someone may have taken over the url “lilpoh.blogspot.com” when I abandoned it.
Anyway, I blog here at WordPress now.
Nice blog. balanced and committed to shed light.
It’s a pleasure to read, in sharp contrast with the self delusions of other blogs on similar subjects
Take care.
