Almost 54,000 Allied soldiers, sailors, and airmen died during the Battle of Normandy. Without their bravery and sacrifice, we might all be speaking German and living under a cult of personality with no freedom. Those of us not taken away and killed outright.
There is a lesson, or should be, for today’s leaders. Especially for our president, who has spent his career dishonoring those who serve. Who has cast his lot with radical anti-Americans, all in furtherance of his own ambitions. The lesson? Never forget that wars are not prevented by words. Never forget that wars are not won with words.
Except these words that should be ever heeded: Si vis pacem, para bellum.
