The totalitarian impulse

The left was quick with screeches of “BushNazi” and “trampling the Constitution.” But that was then; now it’s demonization of those who dare to voice their disagreement with The Numinous One, B.H. Obama.

Check out this from the lefty Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.), as reported by The Hill. She was referring to the hundreds of thousands who protested creeping socialism on the Mall in D.C. last Saturday:

“I want those people talked to; I want them interviewed,” Waters told the liberal Bill Press Radio show in a podcast. “I want journalists to be all over those rallies and the marches with the birthers and the teabaggers.”

This idiot’s thesis is, of course, that any criticism of Obama’s policies must be racist. And, in good totalitarian fashion, should be tracked down and silenced by the power of the state.

By the way, take notice her use of “birthers and the teabaggers.” Actually, kind of a catchy name for a band, don’t you think? I don’t know how many of last weekend’s crowd were “birthers,” i.e. those who don’t believe that Obama is a natural-born U.S. citizen. As for the latter term, this might be insulting to straight men, not so much to gays. But can you imagine a white politician (yeah, Waters is an idiot-of-color, go figure) claiming that a protest from the left is composed of idiotarian conspiracy-mongers and queers.

But then, as many on the left used to say, “dissent is the highest form of patriotism.” Used to say.
