The man who is now the face for the Obama hide-head-in-sand approach to combating terror, John Brennan, is either a custard head, or has had a frontal lobotomy as the price for being the front man for the Obamatons. Here’s a sample of the idiocy that Brennan spewed on Chris Wallace (Fox News Sunday) yesterday:
WALLACE: Just briefly, what’s the downside of treating him [Detroit crotch bomber Abdulmutallab] as an enemy combatant?
BRENNAN: There’s — there are no downsides or upsides in particular cases. What we’re trying to do is to make sure we apply the right tool in the right instance. In this case, we made a determination that he should be tried in U.S. criminal court.
Got that? There are no “downsides or upsides.” The fact that the would-be bomber has lawyered up, and will not be talking for some time, if ever, isn’t a “downside?” That’s like not being able to choose between having a cold beer and getting poked in the eye with a red-hot fire iron.
But, later on in the interview with Chris Wallace, who should be up for an Academy award for not laughing out loud in derision, there is this Orwellian bit from Brennan:
Guantanamo facility must be closed. It has served as a propaganda tool for Al Qaida. We’re determined to close it. We’re not going to, though, do anything that is going to put American security at risk.
So working closely with the Yemeni government, right now we are looking at the other detainees in Guantanamo from Yemen, and we are going to take the right steps, but we’re not going to do anything that put Americans at risk.
Say it loud, say it proud: Gitmo must be closed. No matter how many former detainees wind up on the battlefield again. It was all Bush-Cheney-Halliburton-Blackwater’s fault, anyway (Brennan just had to mention that detainees released under Bush returned to their terror ways; obviously the terrorists love Obama, so will no longer do so).
Now, just to reassure the sheeple, Brennan goes into the Animal Farm-like bleating: “we’re not going to do anything that put Americans at risk.” If we say it often enough, who knows, perhaps we’ll believe it.
Except it is obvious that allowing the crotch bomber to lawyer up is not going to allow us to get vital and timely intel. Strikes me as a huge downside. And allowing crotchy to lawyer up improves our security, how, exactly? Does anyone truly believe that al-qaeda will call off their attacks out of good feelings? No other explanation makes any sense on the part of Brennan and his panty-waist boss.
