First things first: the would-be Times Square bomber was American in name only. It’s evident that he is not one of us, by which I mean liberty-loving men and women who cherish freedom and despise the cowards who would kill or convert us to their wicked religion. Channeling Franklin Graham, there. But he appears to be on to something.

The mainstream media and our clueless government bend over backwards over-analyzing each terror attack by a Muslim. “What possibly could their motive be?” My point is that those who plot against us are not backward peasants eating mud in some hovel in Shitistan. As Mark Steyn writes about the Times Square terrorist Shahzad and others of that ilk,

He’s not an exception, he’s the rule. The Pantybomber is a wealthy Nigerian who lived in a London flat worth £2 million. Kafeel Ahmed, who died driving a flaming SUV into the concourse of Glasgow Airport, was president of the Islamic Society of Queen’s University, Belfast. Omar Sheikh, the man who beheaded Daniel Pearl, was a graduate of the London School of Economics. Mohammed Atta was a Hamburg University engineering student. Osama bin Laden went to summer school at Oxford. Educated men. Westernized men. Men who could be pulling down big six-figure salaries anywhere on the planet — were it not that their Islamic identity trumps everything else: elite education, high-paying job, Western passport.

In simplest terms, the “root cause” of the current terror is Islam. Period. Not poverty. Not teen-aged acne. Not Western imperialism, a long-vanished species. Not the Crusades of 1,000 years ago. Nope: it’s Islam, the “religion of peace,” that’s been on the bloody march since it was founded almost 1,400 years ago.

The usual suspects will whine and screech “Islam is a religion of peace.” To be fair, the overwhelming majority of Muslims are not terrorists. Just like the overwhelming majority of Baptists are not bank robbers. Both meaningless statements.

The problem is that the overwhelming majority of terrorists are Muslims. And the vast majority of their co-religionists who are not terrorists don’t seem to be doing much to stop it.
