The killer is a Muslim. He’s from Kosovo, so, one might think, on purely national grounds he might be a tad grateful to our servicemen who shielded his country from the Serbs. But obviously, given the “Allahu Akbars,” the man’s Islamic faith counts for more.
Was this a terrorist attack? Yes. Obviously. But, according to the State Department spokesman, P.J. Crowley (via The Corner), it could be anything. Crowley’s invidious comparison? The Gabby Giffords shooting by a lone nut with no religious or political axe to grind:
“For example, was the shooting of Congresswoman Gabby Giffords a terrorist attack? You have to look at the evidence and look at the motivation, and then you make a judgment and that is a process as far as I know that is ongoing…”
These are not the words from a government that understands the nature of the problem. Until it does, how can it combat the Islamic jihadism that is our enemy?
The first thing a commander must do is know who the enemy is. Obama and his minions may know, but they’re not letting on that they do. I don’t know which is worse: willful ignorance, or willful lies about who the enemy is.
