Herman Cain is now running for president, and he appeared on Fox News Sunday today. It was, to say the least, a mixed bag for Mr. Cain, who does not know very much at all about foreign affairs or national security. At least those areas that Chris Wallace asked him about today.
Herman Cain is a strong, successful man, with strong convictions. Convictions with which I wholeheartedly agree. At least those which I have heard him clearly express: love of our nation; love of freedom.
However, to be president he should at the very least have some knowledge of foreign affairs and national security issues that are current. To not be able to address an issue such as the Palestinians “right of return,” when this has been front and center the past three days, is inexcusable in a man running to be our commander-in-chief.
The presidency should not be granted to those who need OJT. We did that in 2008, and how’s that working out for ya?
Herman Cain might be a fine veep choice for someone like Paul Ryan or Rick Perry, even though Mr Cain has said he’s not in it to be number two.
Bottom line: the presidency should not be one’s first elective office.
