Interesting poll results reported at NRO’s Primary Event (Katrino Trinko, proprietress). The salient points:
Herman Cain makes his poll debut with 8 percent backing. That puts him in fifth place and ahead of Tim Pawlenty (6 percent), Michele Bachmann (5 percent), Jon Huntsman, Rick Santorum and Gary Johnson (all three at 2 percent).
Ron Paul, with 10 percent, comes in third. Newt Gingrich’s 9 percent support puts him in fourth place.
Herman Cain breaks through the de minimus test of name recognition, and he starts ahead of Tim Pawlenty. Not only that, but the two cited who did better, Ron Paul and Newt Gingrich, well, let’s just say I’d not bet anything on their chances.
My initial skepticism about Mr Cain is being eroded by actually watching his appearances this morning on both Fox and CNBC. The man has passion; believes in America; believes in free enterprise.
Watch Herman Cain; he may be the man who can re-ignite the righteous anger that fueled last year’s victories.
As an observation, in Barack Obama we have the first “black president.” If Herman Cain were elected, he’d be an American president who happens to be black.
