From a drop-by at NR by Tim Pawlenty, this quotation from him on whether he believed Obama to be a socialist:
“He’s in my view, misguided, naïve, he lacks courage, he lacks vision, and he’s taken the country in a dangerous direction…And he’s got government-centric approaches to everything. I don’t think we need to get into the labels beyond that.”
I would go a little further, and add that Obama also believes in redistribution of wealth and has acted on the premise of a cradle-to-grave welfare state. An earlier grave, of course, owing to ObamaCare death panels.
One could add up all of the policy prescriptions and, as the old adage goes, “if it quacks like a duck, waddles like a duck, and looks like a duck, it’s most likely a duck.” Obama is a socialist in all but name, but Gov Pawlenty is right to resist labeling.
Labeling is a lefty thing; we should consider a man’s ideals and ideas, and not worry what the package is to be labeled.
