As reported by Fox News, a tentative debt ceiling deal is a-forming in Congress:
Under the [deal’s] framework, the plan would immediately cut spending by about $900 billion over the next decade, and then task a commission to recommend another set of cuts that would, taken together, add up to the size of the debt-ceiling increase.
Typical politicians, kicking the can down the road. But there is a salient: the discussion has changed from how much government spending would increase, to how much and where it is to be cut.
That’s an amazing turnabout, and while one mustn’t trust Democrats, who are akin to crack whores when it comes to spending our tax dollars, there may well be a new paradigm emerging in Washington.
Now that’s hope and change we can believe in.
