Just in case you were wondering…

At the yahoo! home page, there’s this little poll that asks the question, “What’s the best thing about Christmas?”

The choices are these:

  • Spending it with family
  • Getting great gifts
  • Having the time off

What’s interesting is what is absent, the thing that is truly best about Christmas: celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, God incarnate.

I don’t expect the folks at yahoo! to be practicing Christians. I do expect them to know that without the birth of Christ there is no celebration of a Mass for Christ.

Perhaps I expect too much from companies headquartered in the San Francisco Bay area. However, some minimal awareness of what Christmas is actually supposed to be about might be good.
