Well, here we are, a mere month away from mid-season, and Baltimore holds first place in the American League East. Well, OK, they share it with Tampa Bay. Isn’t that where some real teams hold Spring practice?
It gets worse: my beloved Bronx Bombers are a full game off the pace, with a .547 winning percentage. Actually, over in the Senior Circuit, it gets positively bizarre: The Montreal Expos, er, Washington Nats, hold first in the NL East. That team from Flushing Meadows, The Marvelous Mets, is only one game behind.
Oh, and possibly the worst team in the Bigs, the Pittsburgh Pirates, are actually in third place in the NL Central. It ain’t right, people. It just ain’t right.
Oh well, at least the woeful Cubbies are only winning barely more than one out of three games. I’m certain that God will return from his vacation shortly, and right these heinous wrongs…
