You needn’t be a Republican partisan to know that Mitt Romney smashed Obama in last night’s debate. Mitt had facts on his side. Mitt had demeanor on his side: he was cool, calm, and collected. And, to top it off, really kind to Obama when the latter spouted off some of his untrue talking points (e.g. Mitt’s plan “will raise taxes $2,500 on middle class families”).
Kind how? By not simply telling the truth: that Obama is a bald-faced liar, or that he is too stupid to know the truth. Obama is not stupid. That leaves Obama saying things he knew not to be true. The usual word for this starts with an “L” and ends in “r.”
All told, last night Team Obama would have been better served by having Clint Eastwood’s empty chair.
