President Obama, in his overly long “press conference” yesterday, may have said some noteworthy and praiseworthy things. May have. My first impression, since I couldn’t bear to listen to an hour and a half of dull teleprompter reading, was this tidbit:
Almost every country on Earth sees America as stronger and more respected today than they did 8 years ago.
This demonstrates that Obama inhabits Bizarro World, some alternate universe where good is bad, down is up, etc. As for which countries see us as “stronger and more respected today,” one may surmise these do not include Russia, given their serial aggression in Crimea and Ukraine.
They also clearly can’t include China, as they’re too busy grabbing new territory in by building “islands” in the South China Sea. Syria and Obama’s “red line?” That worked out well, didn’t it?
And so it goes. As for who might like us more as we’ve exited the world stage? I’ve no doubt that the ISIS folks love us for how we’ve led from behind. Don’t think they consider us a “strong horse,” though.
